About the Role
This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Head of Data & Analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible to build and manage a comprehensive data governance framework and driving the maturity of BSP’s data capabilities, ensuring data is leveraged effectively as a strategic asset across the organization. In this role, the incumbent also plays a pivotal part in advancing BSP’s data literacy and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and internal business needs.
Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field. Certifications such as CDMP or DGSP are desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data management and governance, with 2+ years leading governance programs.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM), data privacy regulations, and advanced SQL. Familiarity with tools like Collibra is advantageous.
Leadership Competencies: Proven ability to manage teams, drive cross-functional initiatives, and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Key Deliverables
- Data Governance Framework: Develop and refine policies, standards, and practices that enhance data quality and compliance with regulations. Leadership and Strategy: Oversee the Data Governance Office, managing enterprise-wide governance initiatives and aligning them with corporate objectives.
- Data Stewardship Model: Establish a clear ownership and stewardship structure, fostering accountability and adherence to governance policies.
- Enterprise Data Quality: Lead efforts to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness through proactive quality management and collaboration with analysts and business leaders.
- Data Literacy and Awareness: Drive data literacy campaigns and deliver training programs to embed a culture of data excellence.
