Position Details
About the Role
This position is based in Port Moresby and reports to the Senior Manager Data Governance. The successful candidate will be responsible to lead the charge in embedding robust data quality practices across our Retail Strategic Business Unit (SBU) focusing on minimizing data risk and enhancing data quality capabilities through the establishment of innovative quality assurance standards with continuous improvement as the driving factor.

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field. Advanced certifications in data quality or governance (e.g., CDP, CDA) are highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data management, business intelligence, or analytics, with proven expertise in SQL and data analysis.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM), data wrangling, and tools like Collibra or similar.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

The successful candidate will be responsible to build and manage a comprehensive data governance framework and driving the maturity of BSP’s data capabilities, ensuring data is leveraged effectively as a strategic asset across the organization. In this role, the incumbent also plays a pivotal part in advancing BSP’s data literacy and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and internal business needs.

Essential Qualifications, Professional/Skills and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field. Certifications such as CDMP or DGSP are desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data management and governance, with 2+ years leading governance programs.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM), data privacy regulations, and advanced SQL. Familiarity with tools like Collibra is advantageous.
Leadership Competencies: Proven ability to manage teams, drive cross-functional initiatives, and influence stakeholders at all levels.

The role entails defining data standards, policies, and processes to manage data effectively while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related discipline. Certifications in data governance or quality (e.g., CDP, CDA) are advantageous. Experience: At least 5 years in data management or analysis, with a strong track record in enterprise data stewardship.
Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SQL, data governance frameworks, and tools like Collibra. Familiarity with BI tools and Python is a plus.
